Mail.Land changelog

What changed for customers in each release, newest first. Internal and operational changes are left out.

Each date is the day the release went into production (UTC).

  1. Stricter API key scopes, consistent rates and a redesigned status page

    • An API key now reaches only what its product allows: the validation endpoints need a key with the Validation product, and listing your API keys needs a dashboard session.
    • Endpoints that create or duplicate a resource return a Location header with the /v1 address of the new resource.
    • Duplicating a segment keeps its name with "(Copy)" added, or takes the name you choose.
    • Rates on the Deliverability page, the dashboard and Email Logs now use one definition, so they agree. Campaign reports count opens, clicks and unsubscribes against delivered messages and add a click-to-open rate.
    • The deliverability score says "Not enough data yet" until there is sending to measure, instead of showing a score.
    • Automations can be created from the dashboard, with a required email template.
    • Inbound allow and block lists show the right match type for each entry.
    • Dates in API requests and in the audit-log and webhook-delivery filters are read as UTC.
    • The status page has a new layout: 90-day history bars, tooltips and quiet days collapsed.
  2. Expired delivery attempts reported on their own

    • Messages that expired without a final answer from the receiving server now form their own group in deliverability reports, broken down by cause and recipient domain.
    • Every bounce rate shown to you says that it excludes expired attempts.
  3. Delivery pacing for GMX, WEB.DE and mail.com

    • Mail to GMX, WEB.DE and mail.com mailboxes is now paced to those providers' own limits, and their block-list refusals are reported as blocked rather than as bounces of the recipient.
  4. Paid plans for businesses and a versioned webhook format

    • Businesses can buy a paid plan in the dashboard, with a business-use confirmation, an optional tax ID and reverse charge on verified EU business invoices.
    • Webhook payloads carry schema_version and occurred_at, and each delivery carries the X-MLND-Delivery-Id and X-MLND-Delivery-Timestamp headers. A published compatibility policy says how the format may change.
    • New webhook event message.unsubscribed, sent when a recipient unsubscribes.
    • Automations can include a signed webhook step.
    • A contact reached through several lists or segments receives a campaign once.
    • Usage is counted in your subscription's exact billing period.
    • The Privacy Policy and the Data Processing Agreement were corrected in all seven languages.
  5. Tracking defaults and smoother SMTP maintenance

    • Open and click tracking are off by default for transactional mail and on for marketing mail. The Privacy Policy and the Acceptable Use Policy describe the change.
    • During maintenance the SMTP relay and the inbound mail server stop taking new connections and let open sessions finish; a session that is cut short gets a temporary reply to retry, never a permanent failure.
    • When a webhook endpoint is paused, you are notified exactly once.
  6. Domain scope in the credentials list

    • The Credentials page shows which domains each API key is limited to.
  7. Incident history and maintenance on the status page

    • The status page adds incident history and maintenance pages, cards for active incidents, collapsible component groups and a description of each component, in seven languages.
    • Planned maintenance is marked on the daily and hourly bars.
  8. One login identity per email address

    • Each email address now belongs to a single login identity across the platform, and an address keeps the spelling you entered.
    • Domain names are stored in lower case.
    • Revoking or expiring an API key also stops SMTP sessions that are already open with it.
  9. Clearer campaign errors and validation results

    • When marketing sending is suspended on an account, campaign pages say so in your language instead of showing a generic error.
    • Validation results with and without the mailbox check are kept apart, so a request for the mailbox check never gets a result without it.
  10. Launch prices in euros, custom Return-Path by default, HTTPS webhooks

    • Prices are in euros, excluding VAT, with a new Pro tier at €12 for 10,000 emails a month.
    • New domains use a custom Return-Path on your own subdomain by default, so that SPF aligns with your From domain once its DNS record verifies. Turning it off needs an explicit confirmation.
    • Webhooks are delivered only to HTTPS endpoints on port 443; another TLS port needs approval from support.
    • The dashboard signs you in on app.mail.land; existing sessions had to sign in once more.
    • Sign-up and password reset include a short human check.
    • Campaigns cannot be sent or scheduled until marketing sending is enabled for the account; the API answers MARKETING_NOT_YET_ALLOWED.

For incidents and planned maintenance, see the status page. API details for every change are in the documentation.
